Hi Sarah,Please find reference as promised, its the least we can do after all your good work.Sarah was real help, both before the birth with lots of helpful tips / information and the loan of a birthing ball as well as being a huge support during labour and since we have returned home. Not only was she a help to Mum but was also great at talking to Dad and keeping him calm. Sarah was very reassuring and had a very calming influence on what could have been a very traumatic day.It was lovely to have one person giving continuous support, as although the doctors and midwifes were great, the same people can't always be with you throughout the whole of the birth.Sarah has also been very helpful answering our questions now that our baby is home and reassuring us that everything is normal and that they really do cry and eat that much.We would definitely recommend Sarah to anyone thinking about having a Doula for their birth as it was a real help and bought loads of additional support no matter what time of day or night. We have already asked Sarah to be our Doula if we decide to have another baby !!!!!Thanks once again Sarah we will never forget you ;-)Paul, Lynn & babyxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox
Hi Sarah,Just want to say a BIG thank you from all of us! Your support with the Ewan's birth was very much appreciated.Having had Amy in New Zealand I was a bit sceptical with the process here in the UK and someone suggested getting a doula for support, the best thing I could have done! Having been through it all before, I did know what to expect, but as you know all pregnancies and all babies are different, and just knowing there is a fountain of knowledge at the other end of the phone makes the doula service well worth while! Another perk is the fact that it is someone that actually cares, for the whole family. The birthing ball you provided was a big hit with Amy, and drove me up the wall, but it was heaven sent when I went into labour! The support at the hospital, which is what I was fearing the most, with all the horror stories you hear, but to me just knowing that there was someone to support us, especially Brandon, medical terms that are used that men don't always understand, easy for us, we have nine months to get use to them all. Back rubs and the answer to the odd question, keeping things in perspective when you ask for pain relief that you insisted you did not want, letting you know it is almost over and you can do it!Once again, a great big thank you form us all!Ingrid, Brandon, Amy and Ewan
From the first meeting with Sarah, we know straight away she was to be our Doula. Sarah has claim and reassuring nature and she was very supportive and excited with our choice to have a water birth at home. She was very helpful and a wealth of useful information to help us make decision for our birth preferences. When the big day came at 1am one morning Sarah was with us when we needed her most. She was so helpful, taking a lot of responsibility from my husband so he could focus his support on me. While we relaxed in bed she set about filling the birth pool and helping the midwife settle in, making sure they where aware of our preferences and telling them a little bit about ourselves. It was great to know everything was being taken care of and we could just relax. My labor progressed very rapidly as a result. When the time came to enter the pool, Sarah's calm energy had filled the candle lit room. As my contractions picked up Sarah was an invaluable support to my husband, handing us both drinks, encouragement and support. It was an amazing water birth we enjoyed time in the pool with our daughter Maia floating in the warm water. however when I could not deliver the placenta and was taken to hospital in the ambulance.. Sarah stayed with my husband until I came out of theatre, her support during this time was invaluable. While he held our daughter skin to skin she comforted and reassured him even feed him toast and coffee with a straw and stayed with him until I was back safely. Caroline
Sarahs been nothing but brilliant from day one. On the 14th of November my wife Caroline went into labour at 1 am in the morning. Sarah was great and I will tell you why. We had decided on a home water birth very early on. Sarah's support for both of us was great especially for me. As a dad-to-be you feel under a lot of pressure, she took a lot off my shoulders during the labour so I could give all my attention to Caroline. She really proved a angel when things did not go to plan when Caroline could not deliver the placenta and a ambulance was called. Caroline and Maia our daughter were taken to hospital. Sarah and me followed in the car but it was rush hour and we did not have a siren! I was starting to worry Sarah helped me alot in that time. All sorts of things where going through my mind. When we got the hospital Caroline was ready for theatre and she was really upset she does not like hospitals hence the home birth. I held Carolines hand before theatre and we said our goodbyes.. I wanted to cry but had to stay strong for my wife, I felt like I was going to fall apart, Sarah was my rock at that time. She stayed with me all the time when Caroline was in theatre and kept my spirits up. Her after visits have been a great help to us and the advice to. Sarahs phone is always on and if we need help its there. We are very grateful to Sarah and without her things would of been a lot harder. So from the bottom of ours hearts thank you. From Paul
