We will have an initial consultation in your home which should enable us to get to know each other a bit better. In this consultation I will run through my services with you and you can let me know your expectations of me. If you feel comfortable with me and decide to ask me to be your Doula I can provide the following support to you and your family.
I will visit you twice before your labour so that we can get to know each other and you can relay to me any hopes and fears that you have for your big day. I will also help you explore your birth options. If you need extra visits this will be fine too.
If you wish I can help you to prepare your birth preference and advise you on relaxation techniques for yourself and your partner.
I will be on call for you to telephone or e-mail me, for anything you need to talk about for the two weeks prior to your estimated due date and for the two weeks after you have had your baby.
I will be with you for as long as you wish through your labour and continue to stay with you until you feel settled after your baby is born.
My role as your Doula is to support you and your partner as much as possible through your birth helping you both to feel safe and confident.
I will visit you and your new baby when you arrive home and help you with anything you need. This could include help with breast feeding positions/problems or bathing techniques.
I will endeavour to help you to find the confidence within yourself to recognise and understand your baby needs.
I will be able to care for your baby in your home while you rest. If you have other children I can play with them and occupy them so that you can concentrate on your baby or vice versa.
For any family wishing me to work with them as their Doula, I would hope that they would feel comfortable enough to talk to me about anything that they expect from me. Even if I haven't mentioned it above, I will do my best to help.
With this openness I can help to empower you to have a positive birth experience giving your family an excellent grounding for your new lives together.
As I believe that the services of a Doula should be available to every woman, no matter what her financial situation may be, I am happy to discuss my fees with you.
